Why do people join this site demanding not to be contacted?

I thought most people come here seeking a place of expression, understanding and learning - maybe even some companionship. I don't really consider this a place of seclusion and isolation. But, I have been wrong before.

i see the whole point of sw being to interact within the constraints of a forum … not private messaging. that's what facebook and twitter are for … "private messaging". so … veritably, i agree with questionweaver's directive.
