People really say those things? Jeayziz. No it was more like:
Take out the garbage and I don't mean when you get around to it. NOW
I don't want to have to repeat myself, do it or pay the consequences.
This isn't a restaurant you're having what I say you're having for supper.
You're in big trouble now, just wait till your father get's home.

@Primnproper How many times must I tell you close this door? Were you born in a barn? That's another one.
My bedroom was off the garage. I would leave the garage door open. A lot. The dog liked to go out there and lay on the cold floor and mad sciencing on the work bench was one of my things. lol

@Primnproper My mom was unusual in the extreme. I know this sounds too hard to believe but you can ask my sisters. I'm not making this up.
I can picture an exchange going something like this. "If your friends all jumped off a cliff, would you jump off a cliff too?"
Me: Yes. Her: "okay, you can go then."
I wasn't treated like the others. Never fully figured out why, either.

@SteelHands there can be many reasons for the difference, still sad though..

@Primnproper My parents weren't evil. It was a combination of the times and the year I was born. Plus there were quite a few unbelievably amazing things only I got to live through.
Not many fathers would drive their 12 year old son to the base of a mountain and say: "Let me see you climb it."
Mine did.
