No, I never even go to mortuaria. I tried it once and got nightmares from seeing the dead body in an open coffin.
Here in Europe, they close the coffin the night before the funerail. The coffin is closed for the mas in church.
In the US they keep the coffin open on the day of the funerail, I believe?

@SW-User Depends.

@SW-User and also, cremation of the body is very common here. Many people opt for cremation here because it's cheaper and there is no grave that has to be kept clean,... Cremation is uncommon in the usa if I'm not mistaken?

@SW-User Lots of people choose cremation.

Sometimes US funeral viewings are "closed casket", usually when the deceased died a violent death. But yes, the casket is normally open until its ready to be transported from funeral home to gravesite.
Cremation is becoming more common, mostly because of economics. A full funeral service can run over $10,000 here in Pennsylvania, USA. Cremation is about $3,000.
Both my parents were cremated, at their wishes, and I will be too.

And both my parents requested their remains be buried, mostly because they had already paid for the grave plot and tombstone. Mine will not, I want them spread in the local river.
