Moonchild: we'd go down to our creek on the farm, a shallow area and catch crawdads on a sewing pin bent and tied on a thread and baited with a tiny piece of bacon, put them in a coffee can and my grandpa would use them for catfish bait.

I remember going down to the lake with my brother and catching crawfish with sticks. I don't know what we thought we were going to do with ten crawfish.... lol.
every summer around august it rains for days . the pasture next door becomes a pond and frogs are everywhere.

I like looking for grasshoppers and crickets on summer evenings. Sometimes I race them with my sister :-)

Duchess: Do you have a lot of pygmy rattlesnakes in that area? They like frogs and will hang around in areas around water to catch them.

@cherokeepatti - we had traps that we baited with chicken gizzards or hearts when we were really fishing for them. I've never used them as bait though!
@justhere - ... crawfish are VERY tasty... especially in an etoufee.

Yes I did and played in childhood.. I make a small pond collecting stones and small plants etc in my flower pot for that frog I find that did' t like that he jump out again and again and making face to me making bubbles in his mouth😨 then I understand they like natural pond made by earth not humans so I let gim go in grass again to enjoy his natural life I feel so happy after that...🤗
