What happened to people looking out for their neighbors?

I wish I grew up the same time my parents did because they talked about a time where they can just ride their bikes and there wasn't a worry in the world because neighbors were actual human beings that looked out for each other.

@HelloFriend So what stops you from this?
HelloFriend · 26-30, M
@MikefromEP For me, it's hard to trust people. I couldn't leave my bike outside for a minute without someone stealing it. This is a small example but there is an overlaying cloud of detachment everywhere this day of age.

@HelloFriend I was bullied in a small town to the extent of leaving my peddle bike outside while I swam in the pool to find it destroyed when I walked out to peddle away as a kid. You tell me what trust is... and I will show you a new view
oh,they're still doing it.. just with their cellphones and uploading it to social media then walking away without saying anything -.-

@DancingStarGoddess that really irritates me!

I saw a whole bunch of adults just watching as 3 kids beat up another kid.
I was pregnant with my twins at the time and both my kids in the back seat of my car. I stopped in the middle of the street and called the cops and yelled at all those damn kids for choosing to act so poorly
@KaysHealingPath i know, that's what it is now, people just watch, don't try to help, i get being worried about weapons, but now people don't even do anythign but watch, and back in the day people didnt give a damn about safety if somebody was in trouble you ran up , period. now it's just something to slap on fb or something

@DancingStarGoddess Can't you get in huge trouble for doing that?
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
I still do.
That yorkie I found this weekend, I had a sneaking suspicion it was my neighbors.
I sign for my neighbors (in my building) packages.
I will not hesitate to call the cops in case of any disturbances.
I tell my elders neighbors across the hall when I'm pulling out of a parking spot in front of our door so they can take it.
You know - little things here and there.

my neighbors and I are like family ,well one of them is in a way ,he is my ex wifes cousin ,
but many times they have checked on how was at my home and maybe saved me being ripped off
and I look out for them
we all have good dogs ,we all have guns ,
this is not the neighborhood to be up to no good
and during disaster ,,we really bond
Katrina was bad ,but we turned it into a 2 week camp out
lots of good food and live music
that is really when I know I could count on them
we all looked out for one another
Sorry if your neighbors are not the same Mike ,
maybe we will all face something in the near future that will make them re think that position ,ya never know

@TheProphet It appears the moment is on death row :(

I know right.....My dad barked all of his neighbors away many years ago. Now everybody in my neighborhood knows to stay away from my house. I feel like my house is the weird house on our street.

It's a rarity these days rather than the norm.
IDK, that's a one way street anymore
