SimilarWorlds is overloaded - what's happening

Hello,

In the past 3 days, we have been experiencing a number of DDoS attacks.
This means that many bots (from countless IP addresses) are attacking SW, all at the same time, for several minutes/hours, causing the site to go down (and you seeing a "SW is overloaded" error message).

We are currently working on a solution for this, but we're simply not ready yet to make the switch right now.

We're doing all we can, and we hope by tomorrow this will be fully mitigated, to prevent these attacks from being effective again in the future.

Hello Nuno, I have a question, I don’t know where to post it so I will ask here.

Do you think you (and Admin) would ever consider making an option to be able to completely close our inbox from receiving any messages? The same way you can close the whiteboard from receiving comments on it?

I really want a feature like that.

@deathfairy Hello. Thank you for your suggestion.
I see you've enabled all the "Filter Messages" option, which should bring most of the new message threads to the "Requests" inbox. That inbox won't create the orange counter to increase in the header bar, so "supposedly" those messages won't bother you.
Do you feel that is not enough to you?
We're a bit reluctant to allow users to disable 100% any incoming messages.

Honestly, no it is not enough. 🥺 I have access to both my actual inbox and the “requests” and I don’t want to have to see any messages at all.

I prefer public interactions fully.

I kind of understand why you are reluctant, but it would be like a whiteboard being closed.. they can’t actually send the message through.. If someone really needed to reach me I am very active in public forums.. @Nuno
