100's of versions of Mahjong exist for every modern console. That's an essential game.

What I really miss, and would be easy to integrate, are classic games.

Cribbage & backgammon mostly.

Chess would be another necessity.

I don't think these games look challenging or engaging enough to garner interest from anything more than the casual gamer. But I like this introduction, I hope to see it improve.

@SnailTeeth speed chess might be considered a multi player yet I suspect few are good enough to play against multiple opponents one after the other.

I sure as heck am not that good. Level three at best myself.

That's the problem with multi player games.

Better might be team type games.

@DeWayfarer I don't want MP chess, I don't have patience for that; people play too slow.
Besides that, there's no community here. I was just hoping for AI games that weren't mindless and reaction-based. I appreciate strategy more than anything.
I assumed it was all going to be hi-score based. I think MP is a long-way off by the looks of this presentation.

@SnailTeeth if they could do AI in any form the algorithm would be totally different! 🙃😊

They just don't have the resources for AI.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@DeWayfarer There's at least 40 years of public domain material to rip from.
I don't understand why the dev team is limiting themselves.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SnailTeeth resources cost money is why. 😞

@SnailTeeth I mean hardware!
SnailTeeth · 36-40
@DeWayfarer But there's a bliss factor to it, because money doesn't buy art. I just get the feeling these guys really aren't into what they're doing. Every update just seems further behind the curve. :(

@SnailTeeth having looked into AI myself, there is more involved hardware wise than some realize.

It's why only the big corporations are doing much with AI.

Give it a decade for the hardware to catch up.

@DeWayfarer But even a computer chess program like Junior, must have a public domain clone by now. And that's good enough for most people. I'd enjoy beating that once a day, esp. if it took more than one or two tries on average.

@SnailTeeth AI requires multi threaded processors. 64 is the best on the market. It actually requires still more than that. Hence deep learning, which is totally time consuming, because deep learning requires human intervention.

There is more into AI than many realize.

@DeWayfarer I get what you're saying, but I was referring to the more classic sense of gaming AI. The architectures for these games have existed for decades.

@Fable reading further down into the replies I noticed (I believe Nuno) said chess is one of many at first it will be single player. Yet much later they will be doing against othes and finally multi player games.

@Fable It's Andrew not Nuno. Sorry about that.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Fable BTW how are you doing? Haven't seen you in a while. I suspect I understand why though being where you are.

@Fable a lot has changed for me over the last six months. Yet I mostly keep that private. I do have a private post on this somewhere. You should be able to see it now.
