The Customize Feed option "Content source priority" has now been added.
You can slide this option towards: • More from Groups • More from Users
to affect where most of your feed content is coming from.
A configuration like this one (below), may in the interim, provide you with a feed that is a bit closer to the previous "Following" feed:
(The current options are still far from perfect. Still being worked on and improved, as we continue to receive more feedback.)
Smart Feeds v2
Possibly more importantly, we are looking into a Smart Feeds (Customize) v2, which will revamp the set of Customization Options available, and how they affect your feed.
At present, there is a lot going on with the options, where most of the slider settings shift priority of content from one source to the other.
We are looking into a possible change to this, which may be more understandable and easier for users to operate, and also, provide you with more refined control of your feed content.
The current Customize Feed options:
Customize Feed v2:(currently under consideration / planning)
With the v2, there will be more direct control of each source of content, that appears in your Feeds.
For example: A user can use the settings:
"Users you Follow" to Maximum and All other options to Minimum
to essentially get a close replica of the previous "Following" Feed.
As this will Maximize "Following" as the source of your content, while Minimizing or Erasing the other sources from appearing in your feed.
Conversely, if if a user prefers to see "All Users", similar to the previous Default/Global feed, they could use the settings:
"Other Users" to Maximum and All other options to Minimum
to get a feed that is mostly Globalized, and NOT specific to your Following, Subscribed Groups, Relevant Users/Groups.
Do feel free to let us know, if you believe the "Smart Feed v2" may provide you with better understanding and control of your SW Feed.
Thanks and kind regards! -The SW Team

@Andrew that's cool, but doesn't tell us the entire story unless we know what it was before the feed was messed with, as they clearly had a negative effect.
Yes this is bouncing back (which is good) but it bouncing back quarter way?, Half way? Full way? Doubling?
This small picture is good, but the entire picture isn't there.
@Andrew what hes trying to say is the messed it up and no one could follow the feed.but now its somewhat working so they patting themselves on the back for a mess up they created remember its the new s w facebook control in the making
@Viper, These Stats did improve immediately after Smart Feeds was released.
It has only been about 1 day or less (I think) since we released the "Updates", out of 13 days of Stats since Smart Feeds has been released.
The past 24 hours does not sway the total stats of the past 13 days by much.
We attempted to wait for some time to elapse (about 2 weeks), so that we have more useful stats, than posting something 2-3 days after the initial releases.
(I'm not sure why it matters that much, how much of a difference the last update 1 day ago, has changed stats. I don't think there was that big of an overall shift in the past 24 hours.)
Actually ...
[ After Range: (Oct 25 - Nov 6th) ]
Most of the stats from the past 24 hours (last update) isn't even included here. I took data up until the last completed day, which was Yesterday (Nov 6th)
looks to me like replies and actual interactions with someone’s post went up by a few points. like small. for me to be able to reply and react, i have to see it. i haven’t even seen half the people i used on here for weeks now to the point of thinking they left, only to look them up and discover they have been here and active. 😞 @Andrew
@Andrew Metric immediately after an update will not give an accurate picture of actual increase (or decrease). Right after every update there is a massive influx of posts discussing the update and reactions related to this. I rarely get as much hearts as I do when I make my rants about updates... but your metrics make it seem like it's just a plain uptick.
In addition, holidays and special times of the year also lead to more posts related to that, like the "look at my Halloween customes" and such. Unfortunately you tend to release updates around such times, which again changes the larger picture.
So at the end of the day, these stats don't give much meaning at all... unless you want to make correlation seem like causation.
@Andrew Statistics are nice. What I've learned about stats is that it's very much about presentation. It won't change my perceived experience where this smart thing is kind of obnoxious. Sorry, but that's my user experience no matter what kind of stats you present.
@Dusty101 Oh, most of us call the DV button the 'Hide this comment/post from my feed' button [HINT HINT these days, just so we can all pretend it really does have some sort of genuine use to the average user [HINT HINT] other than just allowing us to secretly shit on good people's posts and comments for everyone to see [HINT HINT] 乂ᴼ◡^乂
@Andrew I don't get/understand/see why the Feed was Ever Changed to Begin with!
Were 6 or 17 very active people wanting something or complaining about something that the rest of us occasional users never noticed?
We notice now! It's Placing Replies Out of Time Sequence, which is the way we Should See things, despite Group or Friendship or Anything Else you're fiddling with!
What is the Point? How has Any of this Feed fiddling making this better for Us??
I don't care Who, or How, or Friends Following, or Downvotes or Hair Color or What have you!
JUST PLEASE LOGICALLY SEQUENCE THE REPLIES After Each Post IN [b] TIME ORDER! IMPORTANT: also NESTED BY WHO REPLIED TO WHOM!
Bulletin Boards with Replies have been around for 40 YEARS, pick through the Most Frequently Used Formats and CHOOSE JUST ONE! SIMPLE!
Its Obvious that Your Well Meant Changes, SORTING OUT & PLACING the FEED USING EVERYTHING by Each Individual User's Flags, Groups, and New Slider Choices is SLOWING THINGS DOWN AS THE SERVER CHUGS THROUGH ALGORITHMS BEFORE POSTING TO THE FEED EVENTUALLY!
