๐Ÿ ๏ธ "Home" is where all the Posts are

Hi everyone, ๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Similar World's new place for Posts is the "Home" tab.

[c=#BF0000]We believe we have finished our changes to the design, and we apologize for any inconveniences that this caused to some of our members.[/c]

These changes to the design will help us considerably in consolidating the Groups and organize them better. Those coming changes will not affect the user interface.

In addition, we have made it much easier to switch between Filters for the Feeds.
With just one click/tap, you can filter Posts by the Groups you follow, or by the Members/Friends you follow:

---

You can customize your Posts Feed by going to Home and press the "Customize Feed" button:

You can then select whether you want to include comments, and how much relevancy:

---

Thank you for your support and we hope you continue to stay with us.

We are constantly listening to your suggestions, so please keep giving them to us, as they are very important to the future of Similar Worlds.

Very kind regards, ๐Ÿงก

But we're not Facebook and Co. or are we becoming like these sites? It seems so which is incredibly sad.

I think most of us appreciate and choose this site, to the exclusion of others (in my case total exclusion) because it was unique and user-friendly, and I use was, since I don't feel it's changing for the better.

You have a solid following of members here, many of whom came over from EP and quite a few who promote good will and who are well-liked and respected in the SW community. In the last few months even, I have seen quite a few of these people delete their accounts, which assumedly indicates that things are not changing for the better.

You are asking members what we want but you don't seem to be acting upon our requests. It reminds me of being at work when you're asked to put forward your opinions but you know management have already made up their minds ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Please listen to your members,, especially your loyal ones, without whom you would not have this unique site at all. We're here for many different reasons and most of us cherish our friendships on here. Please honour that and in turn, appreciate our support.

How is this true? Pretty much most of the features we added to Similar Worlds were based on user requests.

Just because we changed "Posts" to "Home", and we added more flexibility and features to the Posts, we're automatically not listening to users anymore?

@Moonpenny Best comment right there.

For everyone wondering about the goal of these changes. I had to go back and read announcements.

https://similarworlds.com/100-Admin-Announcements/3432517-Clarification-on-Group-Post-Changes

Not sure, but I think moving all tabs to Home wasn't done to imitate other social medias.

It is just the way they chose to achieve more organized group structure. It is not the goal, it is the means.

In the past, the same topic had many groups. It is redundant.

These groups are all imported from EP. Some of these groups are illegal or highly inappropriate. Which is why many of questionable new members would justify their content by "if it"s group in this website then it's fine to post about it"

This seems to be just a step to limit and manage groups

@Nuno Thanks for your reply, Nuno. I understand and acknowledge this. However, my point is that SW is already a successful site in its own right and I sense that many members are worried that it's going to turn into a faceless breeding ground of escalating bickering. Also, many have commented, and to me personally, that 'good stories' have almost disappeared and I, for one, write very little in-depth stuff now, and others don't feel they can bare their souls as before due to some of the crass and hurtful comments they receive. Members have been crying out for a confessions section. You've also asked our opinion on new gifts. Instead of initially concentrating on adopting 'the standard that all other successful websites use', please listen to us, as supposedly valued members....we're all living in difficult and gloomy times at the moment. Brighten up our days! Leave the site layout til later!

Many thanks...

@Moonpenny We do listen to you (while we also make other changes as well). New Gifts are being already processed and coming soon (again, based on user feedback) -- just keep in mind it takes time and work to make them. As for Confessions, I have seen one or two members asking for it, but doesn't seem to be something so many users are asking (at least what reaches to us). More users ask for ability to Mute Groups, for example, which is something we're already promising we'll have.
Moonpenny ยท F
@Nuno Thanks for that and pleased to hear more things are in the pipeline.
As for confessions, believe me, even though this may not have reached you, people are definitely looking for this option to avoid all the inappropriate comments when they post highly personal stuff.
Perhaps you could put out a request with confessions in mind as you did with the gifts?

@Moonpenny There is an option in VIP to turn off all comments. I think you mean anonymous posting like EP? Where usernames were hidden.
Moonpenny ยท F
@Miram No, although that would be appreciated too.
'Confessions' was exactly that where people could post anonymously. Other people could comment too and if you wanted to contact someone, who say you felt was particularly supportive, you had that option.
Nuno ยท Admin
@Moonpenny Ok - thank you. I'm a bit confused. How exactly do Confessions work? Are they anonymous or not? Can people send replies on them or not? Was there a way to contact the user who posted the Confession?
Moonpenny ยท F
@Nuno Please see the comment above. There was a facility to contact each other via PM but I'm not quite sure how it worked.
Nuno ยท Admin
@Moonpenny Yeah, I read what you said, but if you can contact by PM, then it's not anonymous! Maybe we should open a thread asking users how it worked exactly.
Moonpenny ยท F
@Nuno The person posting was the one having full personal details witheld. It just gave the gender and age (if that had been added on profile). The details of people who replied were available as the norm. Therefore, the anonymous poster could contact any of the people who replied to their message if they chose to, but they themselves would always remain anonymous.
Hope that's a bit clearer!
Nuno ยท Admin
@Moonpenny Absolutely! Really appreciate the explanation :)
Moonpenny ยท F
@Nuno You're most welcome!

@Nuno confessions was anonymous to post. Strict stipulations but a necessary tool for some
