Updates to Groups & Posts ✌️🙂

☮️ 🕊️ Hello, Similar Worlds! 🛸 🛩️

The SW Team is pleased to provide you with an update of what has been implemented recently.

[sep]

⚠️⚠️ We understand that at first it might seem we have removed features from Similar Worlds, but we haven't removed anything.
We have just simplified/reorganized some things, that make total sense to do 👍 (as some people have said -- "it's about time").
✌️🙂

[big]All features of Stories and Questions are now merged 📝[/big]

• You can now add a Title/Question to all Posts, no matter what group they are.
• Polls can be added to all posts in any group.
• You can select a "Best Comment" in all your posts.

All Groups (whether they start with "I" or not) are now similar in terms of functionality.
There is no longer a "Me Too" or "Subscribe" button, just [b]"Follow"[/b] instead.
"Stories" and "Questions" are now just called "Posts", no longer with any distinctions.

[big]It is now much easier to create Posts 📨[/big]

• Improved interface of the "New Post" form.
• You don't have to choose between a Story or a Question. It's just a "Post".
• Made the Audience/Rating of the post simpler, when choosing what type of contents your post has.
• If you pressed "Add Poll", there is now a button to "Remove Poll" if you want to get rid of it (before posting).
• As soon as you enter/focus the "Group - type to search" field, we straight away display some groups that may be relevant to you.

[big]We improved the Polls 📊[/big]

• It is now possible to see what answers have you voted to in Polls, and remove them.
• Before, on non-multiple answer Polls, if you voted for another answer, it would just replace your previous answer. Now you'll get an error if you try to vote on another answer, before explicitly removing your existing one.
• Poll owners can now set a limit on multiple answers per user.
• Poll owners will now automatically see all the votes, without having to press "Show Results" all the time.
• Poll owners can now change the Single/Multiple answer setting after the post went live.
• Poll owners can now disable notifications of new votes.

[big]Other changes 🔨[/big]

• The "Popular Groups" page got some improvements, such as being easy to switch between "Popular" and "Recently Active", and pagination (up to 5 pages of groups).
• Since we reduced the Stories/Questions links into a Posts links, we moved the "Gift Shop" link to the main menu.

[big]System Fixes and Improvements 🧱️[/big]

We are continuously working on improving security and other technical elements.
As usual, we always work in correcting known glitches, fix bugs, and make improvements to the System, Security and User Interface.

💡 [b][c=#BF0000]If you find any weird behavior in our system, please let us know straight away by sending any of the admins a Private Message, an email to us or open a Staff Support Ticket.
This is the best way to reach us (rather than creating a public post) and ensure that we will look into the problem as soon as possible.[/c][/b]

---

Thank you for your support and we hope you continue to stay with us.

We are constantly listening to your suggestions, so please keep giving them to us, as they are very important to the future of Similar Worlds.

Very kind regards, 🧡

Um, the 'groups' feature is like the worst mechanic on this entire site. 90% of the groups available are fetish stuff and we can't create new ones. Why would you make it universal without first fixing it?

Also, I have a friend of mine who's not comfortable with posting in the questions section because there's more general hostility there (like with politics) and liked to hang out in the 'stories' section because people were more chill. Like, she gets so anxious about this issue that I'm not sure she'll be able to use this site anymore... I guess we'll see and I hope I'm wrong.

Jee, thanks.

Not correct at all.
76% are Non-Adult groups.
20% are Mildly Adult groups.
4% are Adult and above.

There are numerous of ways to filter contents, like changing your settings to only see Non-Adult contents.
You can also follow customize your feed to only show posts from groups/friends you follow, for example.
@BlueVeins I agree, and think it was a good thing to have the Stories side for things that people don't think would fit or were comfortable posting in the faster QandA.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SW-Admin Yeah, the actual content isn't the issue, it's the fact that the actual selection in general isn't very useful...

Interesting how that kinda just flips from 'groups' to 'posts' and then to nothing, but still adds up to 100%. Is that intentional? Because those would be two completely separate parameters. In any case, it's just not a very useful feature anyway, for a variety of reasons. For one thing, there are tons of redundant groups, which greatly diminishes the... togetherness factor that groups are presumably supposed to provide. For example, we have

-I like coffee
-I like my coffee
-I like drinking coffee
-I like a good cup of coffee
-I like my coffee in the morning
-I like a good fresh cup of coffee
-I would like to share a cup of coffee with you

All are too small to effectively function as communities, but kinda just siphon users away from one another at people's whims. And if they're not supposed to function as communities, what are they for? So you can have a title and then a more general title?

IDK the actual percentage of groups that are fetish; tbh it kinda just feels like that when I'm trying to find one. Maybe y'all already did clean up that problem; it honestly seems better now that I'm looking for it. If you did, good on you for that part.

@BlueVeins Apologies - I just corrected my previous reply. I was only talking about Groups stats (not posts).

As for the redundant groups, the change we are going to focus on next is to consolidate the groups, cleaning them up, etc...
This was just its first phase rolling out, to facilitate those changes.

Have a great day.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SW-Admin OK, if the groups get consolidated and stuff I'm generally happy there. Still sucks that there won't be a less active section where my friend can post, but I guess that probably wasn't intended in the first place.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SW-Admin Hey wait, I just realized that for that stat to exist, the groups must all be categorized the way posts are. So does that mean I can't even see fetish groups since I block fetish content? Because if so, I like it. Did you guys... have to do that all manually?
SW-Admin · Admin
@BlueVeins Thanks for understanding. It's all automatic, based on words (and some manual overrides as "we find them"). For example, a Group name containing the words "I like to use diapers" would be marked as Fetish. Yes - every group has a Rating level. The highest rating between the Post and the Group is what is in place.
