How should one handle transition from peer to manager in the corporate world?

Especially when some of your colleagues were your friends and don't see you as their manager.

Your friends are still your friends, but at work how you treat them is no different than anyone else. With that being said, you’re the leader of the department, not the driver!! Always remember how you liked being treated and carry that on!!
