How long does it take you to finally accept that you aren't wanted?

Sometimes we fall for people that merely use us for their own selfish ends. There's nothing wrong with loving people, the problem is comes when you have to finally acknowledge that you aren't a priority and cut your losses. Is it an easy thing for you to do?

With those I've thought of as friends, it's been pretty clear when I was no longer wanted. It is always hurtful, that realization.

With those I was in a 'romantic' sort of relation with, whether with the legal commitment of marriage or not, it has been the not being a priority realization...that has taken me longer to see than it should have. It has rarely been easy at all, walking away. Accepting it is just part of it all.
