Your thoughts on Europe moving rightward?

It's a reaction and should be seen as such. It's not a result of propaganda or misinformation. Those have always been around and only ever tend to pick up the fringe elements of society, the lost souls. People aren't happy and there is an increasing attitude of "put us first" coming in across Europe. Whether that's aimed at mass migration or simply tourism, it's happening.

The extreme end of the political spectrum will always exist and, as I said, they will always pick up the lost souls in society. It's the shift in the centrists that makes all the difference, if they go to the left or the right. More people who were previously in the middle ground are moving to the right or the left because everything is so polarised these days and there are a lot of major issues globally.

@FishBotThing The people moving extreme right everywhere are too young to have lived through, and remember, the consequences of previous fascism. Glad I won't live long enough to see them come to full power.

Nothing new.
Happens EVERY TIME one period of prolonged 'stability' comes to an end.

But when you continually hear the established 'norms' with nothing to say besides "It's the fault of people who have no voice" (the unemployed; the foreigners; illegals; children...) they deny their role in creating the very conditions they're trying to convince you were caused by others.

Very little credibility in politics anywhere in the world.
And those wearing suits costing the equivalent of your salary are finding it hard to justify their worth.
It's only moving rightward on the immigration issue. The support for social welfare programs is still strong and in the US would qualify as extreme left.

Must be a lot of people discontent with the left, politicians should listen

@DownTheStreet In the UK it's realising the right is incompetent and corrupt.
@22Michelle Like Labour is any better?

@NativePortlander1970 Compared to the tories? Definitely, though using the tories is setting the bar extremely low. Anyway, Labour aren't really a left wing party these days.
That's what happens when you tell them they're competing with others for limited resources. In 2008 the US housing trouble crashed hopes for EU oligarchs that they would be allowed both socialism and access to Wall Street billions. They pushed the population back into fascism. It was easy.
ffony · M
@Roundandroundwego I misunderstood you then, but you did say "EU oligarchs .... would be allowed both socialism and ....
@ffony yes. They used to offer a laissez faire attitude towards their ruling partnership in the Christian democratic and labour parties, but now they demand and get one hundred percent discipline, everyone must support austerity for the population.

Well hell. It could become more difficult for people who will be targets for the Christotaleban to leave the US.

In the immortal words of John McClain,

Welcome to the party pal!

@Girlbehindthecurtain why do you think so?
@Girlbehindthecurtain Why? It's time for conservative values to return, as well as take their countries back.

.
@ffony Europe also has no politics. War eternal, Amen!
ffony · M
@Roundandroundwego Sure, sure. Whatever you say. 🙄
@ffony whatever NATO does. Nobody without socialism can hope to slow the carnage. Let NATO eat the ecosystem. There's no alternative. Europe and murkans killed all hope and they're going to kill the rest.
All of the muslim violence, the media's silence, and government's arrest of anyone speaking up, has pushed European Citizens into that direction.

@Northerner Fully agree with the sentiment
22Michelle · 61-69, T
@Northerner A claim often made by right wingers when the reality is the right control the media in pretty much every country. Then again like so much these days it's straight out of the extreme right playbook - accuse the opposition of your crimes!

@NativePortlander1970 And there we hear the true voicevof the hard right. Perhaps you'd prefer that she was producing children every year, and subservient to her husband?

@NativePortlander1970 And I know women who regret having children because it did cause them great problems. Everybody makes decisions on how they want to lead their lives. Sometimes they regret it. That's life. And the decision on whether a woman wants to have children is entirely up to her, as is if she wants to use contraception, or have an abortion. And look, I can have a different opinion without resorting to insults. Maybe you should try it sometime, people might pay more attention to your opinion.
