Is the truth held by a majority?

A universal (common) truth is really a TRUTH ?

@BlueGreenGrey And how to determine if something is the real truth or not ??
@Hougal Many questions can be tested. Is the Earth flat? Do the Sun and planets revolve around the Earth? Was Aristotle correct that heavier objects fall faster? All quite testable.

@ElwoodBlues Yes... But not easy to reach the truth...
@Hougal Here's an unfortunate fact of science: hypotheses can only be disproven. Newton's law of gravity is a great thing, and still in use today, but technically it's wrong because Einstein's General Relativity has corrections. And maybe someday there'll be a quantum gravity theory that supplants GR.

The good news is that each new succeeding theory provides more accurate results, for example, Newton is good enough for many of NASA's calculations still today.

In math you can prove things; not in science.
