I liked him as a friend but felt revolted by aspects of his mannerisms.
When it started looking as though he might want to get more intimate I broke it off.
No, regrets. We stayed distantly in touch, a catch up chat about once every few years. He ended up successful and nice, top man in National Parks and Wildlife, 4 kids, and part-time Navy Reserve - extremely conservative - not my cup of tea at all. Very intelligent but always unnecessarily unctuous.
Much later, I tried several times to break up with another boyfriend, but he always begged to work it out.
Nineteen years later, we finally married; 38 yrs, still together.
