Secret of NIMH [movie] Thoughts

Spoiler warning for a movie that is 40 years old.

My head cannon is that the great owl has glowing eyes and talks to Mrs. Brisby because he has a connection to the rats. He was either experimented on himself or exposed to the waste of those experiments/possibly ate some experimented on rats or mice. They may have played some role in his freedom.

Oh and they can't be that far from their escape origin can they? Certainly not in another state or country.

Also head cannon: The rats of NIMH are not only as intelligent as humans, they are more intelligent. All that strange glowy portal stuff is super advanced tech they developed combined with some level of psychic ability, at least for some rats.

So why does Nicodemus have glowing eyes like the owl? I am not sure. The designs of the characters are similar. Nicodemus is much, much, much older than the other rats. I theorize he endured more experiments than the others, maybe even gaining a level of prescience &/or psychic power. This would explain his glowing eyes and greater age. It also explains how he was able to know about the slower aging of the rats of NIMH.

Think of it. Nicodemus tells Mrs. Brisby that "you would have grown old while he would have remained young" but how would Nicodemus know that? Mice & rats live like two to five years so you know it's not been more than a couple years. Nicodemus knows about the slowed aging because he was around long enough to notice it.

You could argue Mrs. Brisby wasn't the first I guess. But then where are Jonathan's other kids?

The stone is also a type of psychic tech. It is only activated by the right user under the right conditions.

Tell me what you think or don't. I woke up early and had this in my head. Gonna try to sleep more.
