Everyone I've ever witnessed calling themselves a "realist" is really just inappropriately playing devils advocate on someone's vulnerability...

It's never anything constructive or eye-opening.

I think being a realist is a real thing, but I think many people use it as an excuse to be an insensitive ass who gets pleasure from raining on people's parades.

My ex’s mother could sharply criticize her daughter in laws about the most minor things and would say she was being truthful but she couldn’t even take a hint of criticism. Just an excuse to nitpick at every little thing that we did differently than she did.
The self proclaimed straight talking I just tell it as it is folks

@OlderSometimesWiser exactly 😅 their valuable points are nothing in comparison to asking questions or giving a little empathy, which can help people figure things out for themselves.

Everyone's real is different, so to proclaim being a realist just seems naive.
