Do you know why you want what you want ?

All self help books instruct you to find out why you want what you want and I always think that we just want things but we don't know why.

@Orlbe Thank you.:) I myself need the answer though

@MasterofNone Well this question just triggered me to ask myself the "why" on what I consider to be important and I just can't figure out why. What does it mean? That is not important after all?
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@Orlbe Well i wouldn't say it's not important. In fact my case is similar to yours. And I think the reason why we cannot answer that question is because it is at the core of who we are and congratulations to us we haven't lost touch from that because a lot of people have.

If I had words to answer why I wanted something then it would be shallow. For example, if I want good grades and I know why I want them...it's because I want to get a good job and so on then it means that I do not want good grades at my core but something else instead and the grades are just a means to what I truly want.

So i think when we cannot answer that question, it means it is it. And we can only know if its important after following / executing that. But I wanted opinion on my thinking because you know so many self help books tell us that we should know why we want something 🤷‍♂️
