I'm actually moving to Colorado soon which is still within the states, but I do some online research, it's always good to do this. There are tons of articles of people who moved to and from different countries and they would write about what to do before you move and during the move.
With clothes, and the things that can always be replaced; (furniture, etc;) you can always sell them and use the money for the move. You'll thank yourself for not having so many things during the move.
Make sure you have all forms of identity, keep them in a safe place, and just save tons of money. Separate emergency money from travel money just in case, it's always good to have a backup plan.
Just do a whole lot of research online and look up articles about people who have moved out of the country! Best of wishes. :)
