Recanting my faith and becoming an Atheist was the most liberating decision I ever made in my life.

I’m sorry you feel that way. 😞 I’m by no means a perfect Christian, but I have no fear of hell. But I wasn’t raised or taught to fear it, just be the best person I can be and ask for forgiveness when I’ve done wrong.

@SassyBunn Why be sorry? I feel liberated. I always tried to be good and help others, many times to the point of my last dollar. When someone asked for help, I never hesitated, yet I grew up in the hellfire and damnation churches and my mother is super religious to the point where she is a church secretary, 73 and refuses to retire. Now I am no longer afraid.

Pretending or deciding it doesn’t exist won’t free you from hell, though. I’m not really sure how that’s liberating? @NativeOregonian
