What do you think?

So I was thinking, why don't we set wages based upon the profits of a business? Like the more money a business earns for the fiscal year, the higher the wages of the workers? Wouldn't this encourage workers to give their best and hang on to a job? It would also mean more fair wages for the amount of work done and somewhat close the separation of wealth between the upper class and lower class. What do you guys think?

noble goal, though somewhat difficult to implement...

first we'd need to outlaw and eliminate greedy labor unions... which serve no practical purpose in modern society

@MarineBob one of the problems... if we base federal employee pay on national income after expenditures, they'd be hurtin'...

much of that is due to poor trade policy (importing more than we export)

@wildbill83 I do think government jobs would have to be exempt from this idea. Those jobs are too important and our nation always operates at a loss.

@MarineBob the trouble with federal and state is that they're good at creating useless, unnecessary jobs that pay 40-50k+ a year...

when I worked for NCDENR, there was the woman that everyone referred to as the "sign police"; the entirety of her job consisted of driving around to all the parks in the district with a ruler and making sure all the park signs were properly constructed, a certain height off the ground, a certain size/type of font, etc. and probably made 50k a year doing it... 🙄

Politicians, and Congressmen/women are even worse, dozens of personal aids that follow them around like lost puppies who proverbially wipe their asses for them, and make six figures a year...
