I've done this.
Didn't send it, but i did write it.
I started by saying i hoped she was well and that she had found a life where she was happy.
I went on to explain how sorry i was that we hadn't worked out at the time we were together and though i was angry at the time because of the choices she was making and the direction she wanted to go in, i did at least understand why.
