I have personally found that my luck changes with the right token.
I choose the hat or the Indy racing car.
If that doesn’t help then a secret stash of should do the trick!

Don't feel bad...I'm the same that game can take hrs. Middle way though it I usually start loosing too. Not because the game is pointing out I suck (which I'm sure I do) but rather bc it's been hrs and I just want there to be an end.
