My chess learning journey.

A few weeks ago I decided to finally commit myself to learning how to play chess. I've always said I would but when my ex crush told me he was playing at an advanced level I got inspired to learn to impress him and to one day defeat him. I'm competitive😂🤷🏿‍♀. Anyway I really took to playing it,I play it everyday. I started off playing defensively just reacting to the other player's moves as opposed to trying to win. Once I got more comfortable I started defending and attacking. I went from being in the novice category to begginer and now I'm at an intermediate level on the app.

Right now my brain is trying to learn how to see two or more moves ahead. Instead of protecting all the pieces like I started off doing I have to perform the strategic sacrificing of pieces to reach my final goal. I'm playing slower now so that I can better calculate my moves. The more I play the more I've come to realize what a manipulative game chess is,you have to trick your opponent into letting their guard down. You have to realize that your opponent is misleading you and if you find yourself just reacting to their attacks you've lost the game. Needless to say it requires a lot of thought but it's a lovely hobby.

I used to get my queen and Rook out, to prepare an attack on the sides like a tower, and I’d put a piece as bait, and if they took it, I was in there and it was all over for them😂 I loved it but I haven’t played in 20 years. I’d love to get back into it.
