New to chess

I have during a long time wondered if chess is a hard game to learn and how long time it takes to learn the basic rules. I have saved some websites about how to learn chess and saved them as bookmarks in my browser and I have found two good chess sites, chess.com and lichess.org. I also have seen some books about chess on swedish Amazon.se I am thinking of buying.

Started reading this book on openings in 1973 and it is still available online to my surprise.
Once you get a strong grasp on how to control the game from the beginning then you could be ready for USCF tournament play.

@Mathias They look good. The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself.

@Pfuzylogic I will think of it. If something is way to hard to learn I have unfortunately a tendency to give up too easy or loose interest.

@Mathias In 9th grade the game became a passion for me and I joined the University of Cincinnati Chess Club in addition to playing on the high school team. Other players can help you understand that which feels difficult. Most are very generous in their approach to the game.
