one of my favorite games to play with my kids is this sweet valley board game, ive had it since I was a kid and the concept is hilarious that you have to steal boyfriends in order to get to your date. Every once in awhile I break out this game on rainy days

Another game to try, depending on the age of your kids, would be Ticket to Ride. You compete by building train routs between city's. Easy to learn but there is some strategy involved. You learn geography in the process. There are several different maps available. USA is probably the simplest, but I have played Europe as well (some different rules for that one and the city names aren't always in English).
