I Love Playing Billiards

spent a lot of time in pool halls as a tween and teen. Even now I love the sound of the crack of the balls

I grew up in them too. My dad was a phenomenal man and my sister was a bar tender, so I was always there.

@Kimmyvivi I love the atmosphere
Kimmyvivi · 26-30, F
As do I
ProThrall · 31-35, F
@Kimmyvivi dad would play and I'd watch or play pinball. Never felt like I was in danger, in fact I never felt safer with the regulars

Same. People automatically assume you had shitty parents if you grew up in a bar. I was always safe the regulars should set me on their knee and talk to me half the time lol.

@Kimmyvivi same. When my Dad was playing, sometimes they'd stand me on the bar so I could see over all the people. It was like a 2nd family

I totally get it, I was the luckiest little girl my day and my 3 uncle's were always there with me, I was always so loved. My sister would put soda in shot glasses and wine glasses so I could "be like them"

@Kimmyvivi lol I know the feeling. Dad's friend opened the bar and even though Dad wasn't in the business, he helped him out a lot, fix the lights or plumbing for free, just because they were tight friends

My sister would give me a rag to clean the bar and let me collect the tips. Her and I would split them in the long run because I was cute (looked like matilda) I made bank lol we made a good pair.

@Kimmyvivi I did too from time to time, especially when I was a teen and someone was a no show

@ProThrall @Kimmyvivi Thanks goodness there are strict rules against this kind of parenting! 🙄 (And in case it's not obvious, because this is the Internet of course, you two clearly had great upbringings with excellent role models. I wasn't in bars as much as you seemed to have been, but I was in plenty growing up too and I also have good memories. The eye roll is for those who would actually agree with my sarcastic statement. :) )
