Does any play "magic the gathering"?

I'm going to get my first deck builder tool kit this weekend. I've never played but it looks very interesting! Does anyone have any tips for a beginner?

I play...my advice is fast decks work better than slow...stay away from the bijg mana costs you can always use buffs to make the power tier creatures more powerful

@Blackgoldreign: oh so is it like yugioh where the stronger monsters take longer to summon? Which color cards do you play the most? Or is it elements cards?

@Thefightingangel: the main deck I use is a black blue deck...black I use for zombie creatures that I can keep bringing back from the graveyard and blue to buff and screw with my opponent (unsummoning spells and such). As far as yu gi oh I can't answer cause I never played that but yes stronger monsters take more mana to summon and if your deck is full of them you'll be dead before you can set up.

@Blackgoldreign: oh that sounds really cool! zombies!! Your strategy sounds well planned. What is the purpose of a land card? I saw a video online that said to have at least 25 land cards in your deck

@Thefightingangel: land cards are your mana most land cards will give you 1 mana of a certain color depending on the land type...you want at least 25 because you can only put one land down each turn and you want to make sure you have enough in your hand to play whatever other cards you have

@Blackgoldreign: ooooh that makes sense. OK so wouldn't it be better to have only one type of element or color cards? Or is that bad?
Blackgoldreign · 36-40, M
@Thefightingangel: it might be the best way to start out but as you get better a variety will give you better overall strategies...when you start expect a steep learning curve the guy who taught me still stomps me into the ground but I'm better than most of my other friends now

@Blackgoldreign: that's true variety is better to become less predicable. Haha well at least you are getting better and learning more. Do you ever join tournaments? I think it would be fun if I got really good.
Blackgoldreign · 36-40, M
@Thefightingangel: I never have ...i don't even think my decks would be tournament legal because I have some really old cards in there

@Blackgoldreign: oh yea I heard that there is a vintage side to the game like the first generation of cards that aren't even being printed anymore.
