Haha, thank you! 😊 I wouldn't call myself an expert either, but I do enjoy football and watch it quite a bit. I completely agree with you. When your attacking players are causing problems and you've only got a one goal lead, taking them off and trying to protect it against a side like Argentina is asking for trouble. England should have kept playing on the front foot instead of inviting all that pressure. That said, the lads had a fantastic tournament and should be proud of how far they came. They've definitely got plenty to build on... although I have to admit, I'm hoping France makes sure the third place match doesn't end quite as happily for England! 😜🇫🇷 All in good fun, of course. 😉⚽

@Pianoman Haha, Allez les Bleus! 🇫🇷 I’m glad to have your support for Saturday, although I’m sure England won’t make it easy for us. It should be another exciting match regardless of the result, but naturally I’m backing France to finish the tournament on a high.
As for the final, it’s a bit bittersweet for me because I honestly can’t see myself supporting either team. Spain knocked France out this time, while Argentina beat us in the last World Cup final, so there’s no appealing choice there! 😂 I’ve pretty much lost interest in who wins, although it should still be a very good match to watch.

@Alifeinterrupted I may change my allegiances on the day!! 😂 Obviously I want England to do well but I've had a couple of beautiful French gfs and honestly there is so little between us. I have great respect for France and its culture/yummy cuisine mmm!

@Pianoman Haha, perhaps France already has more influence over you than you realise! 😂 My support for France actually started mainly because of Zinedine Zidane. An absolute legend and such an incredible player to watch. Paul Pogba has also always been a huge favourite of mine, so my attachment to the French team has really grown through players like them.
Interestingly, I’ve never actually been to France, but I would absolutely love to visit someday and experience the culture and all that yummy cuisine for myself. 🇫🇷 I’m glad you have such an appreciation for the country too. We’ll happily accept your temporary allegiance on Saturday, although I suspect your loyalty to England may return the moment the whistle blows! Either way, it should be a great game. ⚽

Although France has always been my team and I've supported them through it all, I was genuinely rooting for England to beat Argentina so we could have had a France vs. England third-place match. 😅 Now that both France and England have been been knocked out by Spain and Argentina respectively, I've kind of lost interest in the final! 😂
That said, I really think Tuchel got it wrong tactically. Going more defensive while only holding a one-goal lead against Argentina invited far too much pressure, and it completely changed the momentum of the game. I also thought Rashford should have been introduced much earlier. His pace and directness could have given Argentina something else to think about instead of allowing them to keep pushing England back. I was really hoping England would see it through. Commiserations! 🇫🇷🤝🇬🇧

@Alifeinterrupted If we'd beaten Argentina it would've been a France-Argentina third-place match. Damn! We could easily have won but Tuchel took off one of our key centre forwards and went all defensive to try to maintain our goal advantage. A fatal mustake against a side like Argentina 😕

@Pianoman Yes, you’re absolutely right. I mixed that up in my original comment. I was rooting for England to win so that France would face Argentina in the third place playoff.
And I completely agree with you about Tuchel’s decision. Going defensive while holding only a one goal lead against Argentina was far too risky, especially after taking off such an important attacking player. It invited pressure and ultimately cost England. Rashford should also have been brought on much earlier.

@Alifeinterrupted You know your footie, young lady. I'm no expert, I confess, but Tony Gordon has been the unsung( ?) hero of this tournament for England, and when your key players/strikers are performing at their best and scoring goals, why would you take them off?? Just because we didn't follow up the first goal in the first half, there was no need to panick and change a winning combination; obviously we had to defend against Argentina, but we should've been able to continue to take the game to them. Ah well, the lads still did amazingly well and did us proud -look how far we came in the tournament. It bodes well for the future, eh? 😊⚽
