Well would you just stop seeing a friend in real life... if you became good friends.
Aperson · M
Goodbye is only a last effort. Before that there should be signs but no there aren't!

@Primnproper: but we're not talking about friends, are we?
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Alex1610: I have people here I consider good friends, we share our thoughts, our problems and we support each other..in turn I treat them respectfully..
Primnproper · 56-60, F
Somebody I don't converse with I probably wouldn't notice somuch..
SW-User
@Riemann: Why is that necessary? If you wanna log out, do it, why do you need to tell everyone before you leave? Are you talking about PMing?
Aperson · M
You just don't wake up one morning and never login for the rest of your life. . It's like you are a robot and you stop doing something.
SW-User
@Primnproper: But I still don't see why they should tell everyone when they log out
Aperson · M
You let your pals know perhaps? Hmm?
SW-User
@Riemann: Actually I can do that, we're all gonna stop logging one day. Tell me, what's the difference?
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Alex1610: I guess to me if their in my circle and we converse it's about respect..I'd worry if someone just disappeared without a word..that's when you think something drastic might have happened to them..it's not nice not knowing..
SW-User
@Riemann: Why should I tell my pals that I'm logging out? If you're talking about PMing then yes, we should at least try to leave a goodbye, we can't just leave in the middle of a conversation.
Aperson · M
...
You let your frins know cus they are frins?
Yes, we might all logout one day but we leave signs before going off for good.

@Primnproper: What if they do say goodbye then they stop logging in?
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Alex1610: he means if people just log off and never return without an explanation..
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Alex1610: well I'd think that's little rude not let people they converse with daily know..but that's just me..
Aperson · M
You are not getting it Alex. Suppose you used to see a user regularly. There were no signs of trouble on her posts. Then they disappear to nowhere. It's stranger for a friend to do that. It's a basic courtesy to let your online friend know that somehow from tomorrow you change magically and not going to login, ever.

@Primnproper: Well he's not talking about friends, he's talking about people who suddenly stop logging without a goodbye. To me, I think we don't have to tell the public what we're going to do, it isn't necessary

@Alex1610: if their in your friend list and you converse regularly they are friends..
SW-User
@Primnproper: It says "friend list", but it's actually "people who I added list"
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Alex1610: maybe you're more detached than the rest of us..
SW-User
@Primnproper: We're strangers, it's the truth. It's not about being attached or detached, even if I do say goodbye and people might notice that, but in the end, nobody really cares
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Alex1610: that is where you're wrong...I'm used to seeing you around here, if I noticed you hadn't been in I'd wonder if you were ok..with us older ones it more of a worry because some of us have health issues..
