Which would you choose?

I've been thinking about time travel quite a bit recently and I've come to the conclusion that unless you can travel in time AND space it's pretty much useless.

Let's say you built a machine to move solely through time and decided to test it by jumping an hour into the future or past.

Well, unless your craft is either airtight or can fly, you are pretty much now dead.

The Earth has rotated, it's moved along it's orbit around the sun, and even worse, universal expansion has potentially left you 1,079,252,848km away from your starting point as you ONLY travelled through time. You'd be in the same physical location as when you set out.

So you would need a machine that sent you through time 'site to site' (in essence, from and to itself). However, that would make time travel into the past totally impossible as you could not travel back beyond when your time machine was activated.

This may explain why we are not currently inundated by time travelling tourists as we've not invented the technology yet...
