Is 1080 the highest you can go with a graphics card?

@PrettyTroubles GTX is just the name for the consumer NVIDIA cards. The 10 denotes the generation and the 80 the model.
The next generation would maybe be 1180, although I think they'll just rename everything again.

The actual processing power has little to do with the name.

You can get the top tier stuff with that.
Get a 1080ti, or if you feel like it the Titan XP.
For CPU I'd take the i7-8700k, that's the one I have right now and I am very satisfied with it.
MoBo doesn't matter much as long as it has the Z370 chipset.
If you only wanna play games with it 16GB of RAM should do the trick.

@PrettyTroubles Then get a big ass case as well with lots of cable management options to optimize airflow. Although that won't be so important with an nVIDIA card.

@PrettyTroubles Or you go the cool route and make everything watercooled. It will be a bit more expensive, but super quiet and you can really push that i7 to the limit.

@PrettyTroubles And expensive. Don't forget expensive. But if you are too scared to make it watercooled just go with fans and don't overclock that much. No shame in that.
