@Mamapolo2016 the weak job numbers cast doubt on the strength of the US economy, so investors would tend to avoid putting money into new areas. One conclusion is that trump's gang would anticipate a drop in his popularity cause of the low employment numbers, and attacking Syria would be trump's backers a lot of money and distract media attention away from the bad economic news. And of course one way to make a government more popular is to start a war, why this works I have no idea

I see. Where did you get your job numbers? I looked it up and got a different impression.

@lorne13 First, I fully admit the NYTimes and the Wall St Journal have different dogs in the hunt. And these numbers are a little newer, so maybe that partially explains the discrepancy. But there is a discrepancy.

The U.S. economy added 313,000 new jobs last month, the strongest monthly gain since July 2016. The unemployment rate remained at 4.1% for the fifth straight month. Wage growth rose by 2.6% from a year earlier.
