To block or not to block [I Had Lego Blocks]

I’ve never blocked anyone before. I don’t like the idea of shutting out people or closing off opposing points of view, but I am wondering if it would make my experience here a little more enjoyable. I dislike some of the negative posts that offer no redeeming qualities.
Your thoughts, pros and cons of blocking?

If the posts, probably mine LOL, are depressing you for real by all means block them and regain peace in your heart.

Personally I wish everyone who doesn't have a fucked up savage idiotic sense of humor would block me so I only see my kind of people.

I wouldn't even mind if there was only a handful because I'd rather hang out with 10 fun loving idiots than 10,000,000 dumb fuck whiners 🙂
@SmellyBot That’s what I am conflicted about , I’m not even sure what “my kind of people” are. I know what I believe in, but I also find it interesting and even enlightening to hear what others believe, and I don’t want to shut it out of my life. I believe in healthy, respectful discourse

@Ghostinthemachine For me, my kind of people are the meme artists. ♥️
@SmellyBot ah, they are quite brilliant!
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine It's as if some of them are professional ad agencies the art is so incredible. I can make basic memes from a free meme generator, but some of those people can make them from scratch.

I was in a couple groups with nearly 20,000 members (of course we know it's actually only about 10,000 because of so many of us 'kind of people' have multiple accounts)
and the admin liked my memes so much he used two of them for his cover photos.

That was very flattering someone like him would appreciate my little kindergarten efforts.

Someone asked me how do I make my memes, and I sent them a link to the generator and Fb put me in 'jail' saying it was spam. Their censorship is getting so ridiculous after 15 years I had to throw my hands up in defeat and delete my accounts
@SmellyBot I would like to see some of your work! Do you post them here?
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine I don't remember if I have any of mine as lately I just look up the topic, copy, and paste. Stealing is what people call it LOL

Also we were a bit rude and I think my kind of humor is not appreciated here. I'm trying to keep myself at a more sociable level here, but sometimes I just can't help what I think and post because it's just who I am. And often I'm just stupid drunk and what is funny to me at the time isn't quite so funny when I wake up sober the next day.

With them there was no need to hold back. Here I'm afraid everything I say will trigger the majority
@SmellyBot with all of the new technology comes new catch phrases...drunk meme-ing 😆
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine I take that back, I don't mean to bore you with details but I don't actually JUST copy/paste as that's one of the things I don't like about this site is we can't just simply do that little thing.

I have to Save As and then post it. Kind of a tedious process actually. But I see where they perfected their gifs here, maybe one day they'll have it set up so we can simply copy and then directly post it without going through all that effort
@SmellyBot it took me awhile to figure it out, and even then it didn’t always work for me

@Ghostinthemachine Here's one I found I 'made' when the pandemic hit. As I said it's just a basic meme where you find a picture and just put words to it, but it's the message that has the impact.

It may offend you and if it does I apologize, but it's what we did there. We make a lot of people mad, but that's the fun of it I guess.
It was in fact meant to be an offensive group with the intent to trigger people lol

SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@SmellyBot this reminds me of the kind of stuff some of my friends will send me. Other groups of my friends would be offended. I have friends for all purposes and situations ;)

@Ghostinthemachine Anything Hitler is Fb suicide and I see here they automatically go into the Adult section, but I was able to use this as an avatar and get away with it. Needless to say although hundreds of people found me funny, thousands of people did not lol

@SmellyBot not sure I get the use of Hitler on this one
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine No actual meaning, just the fact I could use his likeness and get away with it. People were reporting it, but Fb said it wasn't a violation and I knew that alone was triggering them lol
@SmellyBot yeah but using the image Hitler to incite is too easy. Using it for humour, and to send a message, now there’s a razor edge you’d be straddling
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine For me also it was a lot about experimenting, like what can I get away with?

One time someone had an offensive meme and I was curious as to is it or is it not a violation so I reported it. I don't normally report anyone, but I just had to know the answer.

Fb replied saying no it is NOT a violation, so I Shared it.
BAM!, I was thrown in jail again because although it wasn't a violation for them it was for me.
I went back and re-reported his meme and again Fb said it was NOT a violation. smh

It's stupid unfair 'rules' like that which made me have to leave
@SmellyBot with humour, it’s often a fine line between making someone laugh or offending them. People are pushing the line all the time, and sometimes you don’t know where that line is until you’ve crossed it
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@Ghostinthemachine So how do you feel today about blocking?

The only people I have blocked on here is those who blocked me first. Usually those kind of people block and then later out of curiosity unblock.

Or sometimes they unblock, leave a nasty message, and then block again. smh lol
@SmellyBot those dang preemptive blockers!
