To block or not to block [I Had Lego Blocks]

I’ve never blocked anyone before. I don’t like the idea of shutting out people or closing off opposing points of view, but I am wondering if it would make my experience here a little more enjoyable. I dislike some of the negative posts that offer no redeeming qualities.
Your thoughts, pros and cons of blocking?

I don't block or mute. I like to know what is going on good or bad. I do self ignore some, quite a bit, yet not to the point that I don't know what is happening.

This is just a personal choice that I learned decades ago how to deal with. Blocks and mutes just where not possible then.

Just a point of view. Why would any totally ignore what's going on any news channel even if you disagree with the whole channels philosophy?

I actually disagree with the philosophies of all news channels. They are ALL far too commercial. Yet they still are helpful in emergencies.
@DeWayfarer it’s interesting that you mention the news. I had a discussion with a friend recently about the state of news media. Their goal, first and foremost, is to make money. Also, you have to be aware of who they are owned by to know where they might have a below the surface angle/slant/agenda. For that reason I also try to get my news from several sources, and it’s interesting how differently they present things. It’s not so simple anymore, is it?

@Ghostinthemachine no it's not possible. And I do exactly the same.

Was thinking about posting something on China's global scale effects which is never talked about in any news media.

Sure they talk about this or that incident. Yet never the global aspects of all China's doings.

From the European rail trade routes, to their expansion into South American oil, to the war in India to the expansion into South East Asian areas that come close to even Australia.

Australia is complaining big time on that last one.

That probably wouldn't get any audience here yet that hasn't stopped me before with climate change.

Sorry for going off topic! 😁
@DeWayfarer No need to apologize, I appreciate your thorough responses.

I think you should feel free to post anything that you find interesting, and you may be surprised by the responses you get, how many and by whom.

Chinese expansion is definitely an interesting, and can be seen as alarming subject matter
