@saragoodtimes My Dishwashers website disagrees Why You Should Skip Prewashing
Designed for Residue: Dishwashers are built to clean dishes with food particles on them. They utilize specially formulated detergents that work best when they have food to break down.
Soil Sensors: Many dishwashers come equipped with soil sensors that detect how dirty the dishes are. If you prewash, these sensors may mistakenly think the dishes are clean, leading to a lighter wash cycle that may not effectively clean the dishes.
Water Conservation: Prewashing can waste a significant amount of water. For instance, running the faucet for just two minutes to rinse can use up to 12 gallons, while a dishwasher uses as little as 3 gallons for a full cycle.
