Imagine the possibilities, no more running from the kitchen to the den to see what's going on during my favorite programs, I can receive texts AND calls to the fridge when I misplace my phone (I do that often when I'm home), AND I can receive pictures from the fridge when I'm grocery shopping just in case I forget what to refill up on. 🙂
I remember I bought a couple of tech magazines from the 80s, because they had suggestions in one of them how "the future home" would look like - it was full of technologies like this 😊 haha. A talking fridge, a panel on the wall in every home where you could communicate with the fridge, the stove, another room..
I was freaked out when I discovered my fridge has its own wifi network and can tell my phone when there's something wrong with it. Seems like this is how Terminator really would have got started.
