Any Lego fans here?

So I am making a mario themed lego chess set and using this as one of the pieces but the chain will get in the way of other spaces on the board. So what I wanted to do is either find a replacement chain or find a way to stiffen the existing chain with glue or something and basically use it as a prop for the chomp to stand on. Any ideas?

i have about 4 or 5 figures. The kings and queens will be the hardest to get. Im using Bowser, King Boo, Reznor, and Sumo (or whatever his name is)
