@SomeMichGuy by your logic anything fledgling is useless? You ever checked the serious work where AI is being implemented? Reminds me of that quote by Rackham in 1903: The horse is here to stay, but the automobile is only a novelty—a fad

Do you think it's a good thing?
TangledUpInBlue · F
@Infamous607 I have mixed feelings. I think there is a lot of good that can come from it. It’s in the curious child stage now. If let’s say, it gets better and more advanced and reaches super- intelligence then I think we as a species will be in trouble.
I think about weapons and war and what it could do. Whose hands it could end up in for nefarious purposes. I also think about health and poverty and what it could do. The thing is, AI uses resources, it needs cooling for servers, that doesn’t bode very well for the planet. I also think that human beings and the way we are, we don’t see long term.
I think the tech companies are racing to develop at a break neck speed because there is a ton of money to be made, without considering the consequences properly. As we have done in the past. It could be good in the short term, but in the long term, for us as a species and the planet? No I don’t think it’s good, but that’s just a guess, I actually truly don’t know, but I enjoy speculating and people who can speculate with me.

@TangledUpInBlue
You mention the hands it could end up in
Right.
Like every other doctrine out there, they all look great on paper, unfortunately, man and his greed tend to mess it all up. I think it would be the same with this.
Can't be worse than what humans have done.
