A Time of Changes:

Robert Silverberg wrote a novel by that name back in the seventies. It was fitting as it was a time of culture shock. I think that we are all about to enter a time of culture shock again. We are seeing growing ignorance, superstition, corruption, greed, isolationism, biggotry, ... you name it. It is a time of fear, a time of great contraction. It is an existential crisis. The country attempted to do right but it overspent, elected bad leaders, and now it's in a tailspin. The bubble has burst. I think we are looking at a complete failure of the economy and all of it's supporting infrastructure and systems. Another pandemic (this one, far more deadly and uncontrollable) is looming. Rampant deflation is coming. Cities will need to cut back on spending and taxes. Properties will become worthless. Farmland will go back to prairie. It will become very quiet, very dark, and hungry. There will be no jobs. Things will become cheap but no one will be able to afford them anyway. How low will we go? How long will it last? How do we fix it? How do we get through it?

@VeganYogi property has become virtually worthless twice before in my life. In 1986 farm land values crashed to the point that you could barely give it away. In 2008 i bought back the three acres of the farmstead with the 24 x 50 foot house, a 24 x 40 foot garage, a 30 x 60 foot two story barn and a 24 x 60 foot haybarn for $7000.00
