SpaceX To Take Four Civilians Into Extended-Stay Orbit

A US Billionaire has booked a SpaceX launch (rocket and vehicle), the same kind NASA is using, to launch himself and three other people on a 3-day earth orbit space trip.

This is the conclusion of an effort on his part to raise $200M for St Jude Hospital. He contributed $100M to kick the effort off (in addition to whatever Musk is charging for the actual trip).

The liftoff window begins about 7PM EST on Wednesday and lasts about 24 hours.

It's not clear how much Musk is charging, but another party has already booked a multi-day trip next year for $55M.

Hilarious excess, but here’s hoping privatized space access will lead us into the conquest of this solar system.

@QuixoticSoul It's going to happen on the government's dime. These trips will pay for more R&D. Not a bad way for Musk and Bezos to increase their net worth, but their plans call for pumping all the revenue back into their space operations.
