Most people need to relate and have a lot in common to be friends.

There's so much beauty in diversity though. So much to learn. So many stories, traditions, expertise.

Chatting with someone very different than me is like reading a book full of adventure.

Not that I don't enjoy people I relate to, it's just that if we always gravitate towards people like us, we're missing out on endless edification and captivation.

I have friends that are polar opposites of me. Example: a very religious lady who loves xmas

I'm a pagan who loves halloween, but hates xmas.

I buy xmas decorations for her, she buys hallpween decoration for me. "Because it made me think of you"

We both adore 40's, 50's, and 60's music and share our latest favorites with one and other.

We both strive to become better people every day, regardless of our believes.

When I tell her "I'll pray for you" we both know it involves a ritual related to my religion (lighting the appropriate candles and making the appropriate sacrifices before chanting the appropriate words)
When she says she'll pray for me, we both know it involves a ritual related to her religion (taking a knee, folding her hands, and expressing her thoughts in words)

At the end on the day, we both with the best for one and other without pushing our beliefs on one and other. We know our words will go into the universe, and wether or not higher powers are real, we wish the best for eachother and will always be there for support and such.
