Another "Larry" story…

I was remembering a time he and I met at my local BART (train) station to go downtown, and while we were waiting on the raised platform someone was in the courtyard playing a saxophone. The person played very well, and I was raving about it to Larry, who kept checking his watch. The musician, played Brubeck, some Coltrane tunes, but Larry wasn’t impressed. Then suddenly he said, "finally ! A tune I at least recognize."

The musician was playing "Popeye, The Sailor Man" for a child.
"You’re right, he’s very good," Larry said.

I coughed, "Philistine !" and a couple standing behind us laughed.
Larry grinned and shrugged.

Larry sounds like a warm, wonderful, honest, companionable fella appreciative of the simpler joys in life... *ahem*

Authenticity is so comforting. Maybe not always comfortable but definitely comforting. Your Larry sounds a treat. I’m glad you’ve had him. 😄
