Well after 2 years I think their actions speak louder than words. You're still not feeling comfortable and even alone and that's your gut telling you, you need to find a better friend (s).

Looks like you have never merged with the group and staying external. Something like a waitress in a restaurant who serves a group but stays out of their activity.

You need to take the liberty and move into the core , ask questions about one another, offer or suggest something and soon you will find yourself part of the group. Another way is make a bestie out of one or two and meet them in private or converse with them on chat or phone.

But don't think of keeping them in life forever as everything is a passing cloud. Just float and live the moment.
