Would you prefer to be friends with someone who is popular but not genuine, or would you prefer to be friends with someone who is genuine but not popular?

I’d wager most would prefer the latter from a safe and sensible distance. Oftentimes in that situation, given the choice, they forego their preference when they realize the cost of it.
