Wondering if getting to know people is worth it

The more I try the more I'm finding I don't know if it's worth trying to connect with people. it takes a lot of emotional energy for me to connect with someone and for them to just abruptly decide to stop talking to me and not say hey this bothers me . No one seems to want to be honest and real anymore. Somehow I expect trolls/rude people to respond in a way to upset me so whatever.

Maybe not here. Irl definitely. Time and distance makes it quite difficult to make that genuine connection online, unfortunately.
There are exceptions though.
So I’ve heard.

@Carebear412 If it works for you then embrace it. I just find people online tend to be more fair weather, short term, move on to the next shiny thing.
But as I said before, there are exceptions

@Ghostinthemachine I mean yes, people online do tend to take it less seriously, but over the years I have met people that have been friends, s.o. and it's possible when both people give it a chance.
