How do you feel when...

How do you feel when you sign up to participate: (for example maybe an ameteur baseball league or team sport or maybe a band or choir something that requires a team.). and when you show up at the scheduled time and place, what if most other players or members do not?

How do you feel if only you and less than a handful of the team shows up ? How would the coaches feel? If players just decided they were vaguely " too busy" to even give notice?

This is how it is with almost every social event Ive witnessed wheter it be a, parent teacher meeting, a book club, or ongoing study/ support group, its always met with flippant people that cant be trusted to rsvp or even give notice, let alone make a medium level comittment. Once a week for a few hours on the weekend is not considered a big commitment,so why is it disrescpted?

Its really sickening that people choose to be untrustworthy and fail to care about keeping true to your appointments.

Emergencies are of corse understandable but blatant disregard for other people's time is disgusting.

I got roped into being the head of a charity type group for this year & I totally hear what you're saying. Especially when I've worked my ass off on an event and the vast majority of group don't show up. See the same handful of folks time and again.

@ineedadrink I turned up at a meeting last week to help with county athletics, I was expecting to take a minor role on the committee. Apparently it was the first meeting where they have made a quorum (6 people) since Covid, there were about 20 people in the room. I was the only volunteer and the only position that was vacant? Chairman. If we didn't get a Chair the group had to be dissolved- no more county athletics. Yesterday I learned the outgoing Chair is 'becoming' president a new post, so now I'm confused wtf is going on.

I HATE broken promises more than I hate regular liars, self-centered people who don't think ahead are exactly why the world sucks

If it's for a children's thing you'll find people really enthusiastic at start up because it gives them time without the kids (ie free/cheap child minding) while they do other stuff. Anything else you soon find out the people you can rely on to put in the hard hours.
