Yes, some look to be offended by something. It's easy to get caught up in it.

But I also do not believe in behaving in a way (aka kindness, etc.) by compulsion. It's not genuine. We are faceted and moody creatures. At least a little angst is sincere. But learning to have a little more control of our emotions is a good lessen in emotional maturity which social media defo could use. But a person has to be willing and open to growing. It can't be forced.

Great video and share. 🩷

@RogueLodyte Yes , you know that I'm a realist.

She was quite gracious though. 😌

The brain is fascinating. Thanks for sharing this information about the anger-rage cycle.

If we can remember to be intentional and slow down to observe our thoughts/behaviors, just a small moment can change the trajectory of our brain patterns in a more positive direction. Mindfulness regulation, like the 90 second pause you mentioned, is healthy for the nervous system as well... contributing to our overall well being.

I really appreciate this post.🌷

@StarLily Yes, exactly what you said. I started practicing this a couple of weeks ago, and I am starting to feel much better. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I appreciate it. 🙂

@Journaling4MeAgain Do you find it challenging to remind yourself to stop and practice this mindfulness technique?
akindheart · 61-69, F
we definitely need more kindness. one of my closest friends posted a hate message about how can we memoralize a right wing hater and not school children. i asked her why can't we mourn both?

There are those who see kindness as a weakness. Something to be taken advantage of. I try to speak with everyone with the same level of respect that I think I should be spoken to with. I try to be tolerant of others opinion, but if someone wants to be offended, they are going to be offended regardless or respect, kindness or tolerance from others.
Journaling4MeAgain · 56-60, F
@Roadsterrider Thank you for your thoughtful comment. It is filled with much truth. I think you are right in that if someone wants to be offended, they will be, regardless, but I still think it is important to try to be all the wonderful things you have mentioned in your reply. One who treats others with respect, kindness, and tolerance, even if it only helps you be true to yourself. Thank you again for giving your reply such thought. It is wonderful to be able to talk about a subject, as we all have been here on this post, in a thoughtful manner.I have greatly enjoyed visiting with you and everyone else about this. 🙂
There is a certain element here who consider kindness weakness. I’d just rather not engage with them anymore. I stay for those who are not like that. 🥺
Journaling4MeAgain · 56-60, F
@bijouxbroussard Yes, sadly, I have seen this too.😔 However, we both know that being kind, in such an unkind world(offline and online) takes a very strong person indeed. ❤ I understand not wanting to engage. I am the queen(if not the queen that at least a runner up..lol) of running away, leaving SW, closing comments on my posts, and blocking when I need to. Right now, I am trying to be stronger, but I think most people here know it is just a matter of time before I go into hiding again. Thank you for understanding, and for staying here for the people who care so very much for you. I always enjoy your contributions to conversations here. :-)
@Journaling4MeAgain Thank you for that. 🤗

Excellent post, I need to do this myself.
Journaling4MeAgain · 56-60, F
@JimboSaturn I just started trying this a couple of weeks ago, but it is making a difference in my mind, and in how I interact with others both offline and online. Thank you for your kind comment. It is appreciated.:-)
I think there is enough phony REQUIRED positivity today. I can be kind without all the REQUIRED love bombing.
Journaling4MeAgain · 56-60, F
@RogueLodyte Thank you so much for helping me understand this. I agree, "real" people are not always positive. I am not that is for sure, and I do think it is very important to be genuine and authentic. Do you think people call others they don't agree with mean-spirited trolls and narcissists because they don't have a better way to communicate their own thoughts, or maybe as a way to shut up the person they are belittling? I see this very often on here, too, and it is something I am trying very hard to understand.🤔
