I struggle quite often to even be civil with people who's views or lifestyle I consider hurtful or delusionary. Why on earth would you even think of befriending someone who has such radically different thought processes to you own in the first place?

@ThePerfectUsername because I don't wish to become stagnant in my thinking or too rigid

Some of my beliefs literally took more than half a century to formulate to the point where I can see them clearly (e.g. religion) and to even consider changing my mind now seems almost masochistic. @SW-User

@ThePerfectUsername ...I believe we never stop learning.
Thinking all our ideas are the right ones leads to arrogance.
And I love my friends because of who they are, not how they might not measure up to my yardstick.

I agree we never stop learning. But once I've graduated in something I tend to move on to the next life lesson not take the same old class time after time after time. @SW-User

No sense arguing we don't agree.

I wasn't aware we were arguing. Are you sure your theory works? ;-) x @SW-User

@ThePerfectUsername You're the one who said you didn't want to be around those who disagree with you.
I disagree.
I don't think I can be friends with everyone, not that delusional.
If people can't agree to disagree it turns into an argument, that's what I meant.
Not that we were arguing, but that's were it will lead to if we don't agree again, to disagree.
Behavior, is what I can or cannot tolerate, admit that.
Political, religious,or philosophical ideas as long as the behavior is not obnoxious then they and I can disagree.
It depends on how the disagreement is handled.
You said at the beginning you could barley be civil to those that you disagree with,I would find that, after a time, obnoxious.
So, in that instance, yes, it would be hard to maintain a friendship with someone who treated me with no respect as a person.
Just to be crystal clear I am not saying you have crossed that line here.
That I thank you for.
