During the civil rights movement in America, a common phrase black men would use when protesting was "Am I not a man?"
The reason they had to say that isn't because there are black men and there are "normal men" or "biological men." It's because at the time, mainstream society didn't see black people as fully human.
The reason we say "trans women are women" is because transphobia is still a thing. The reason we have words like "trans" and "cis" is because it gives specificity to a concept. It doesn't mean one is more valid than the other. There are white women and black women, both groups are women, neither is less valid.
She is right about one thing. Trans people don't own the English language... I do.
